DiagnosticsPresident Obama To Engage AARP Members At Health Care Town Hall
President Barack Obama will join AARP leaders and members tomorrow for the next in a series of national tele-town hall meetings on the need for quality, affordable health care choices for every American. The Association"s town hall meetings have now reached nearly one million of its members and volunteers nationwide.
"The president knows the support of the 50-plus community will be critical for health care reform," said AARP Chief Communications Officer Kevin Donnellan. "This is an important opportunity for him to hear and respond to questions our members have about health care reform, whether about changes to Medicare or affordable coverage for people age 50-64."
Tuesday"s event will be the tenth national AARP tele-town hall held as part of AARP"s Health Action Now campaign. During each town hall, hundreds of thousands of AARP members are invited to join a call where they can have their questions answered by AARP officials and other guests, which have included Nancy-Ann DeParle, director of the White House Office of Health Reform. Listeners can also ask to be connected directly to their members of Congress.
Donnellan added: "Our most important responsibility is to make sure our 40 million members have accurate, objective information about how health care reform will impact them. With the health care debate too often dominated by scare tactics and misinformation, it"s important that everyone understand the facts."
